route 128 land use + transportation

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation commissioned a land use and transportation study of Route 128/I-95 in collaboration with Waltham and surrounding communities. The final report was released in June 2023.

The report rated and put forth a number of recommended improvements to "address the corridor's current and anticipated transportation issues." Listed below are the four highest rated recommendations for Waltham put forth in this study.

1- Create Fitchburg Line Multimodal Hub

2- encourage transit-oriented development

3- Encourage mixed-use development
