mbta bus network redesign

What is the mbta bus network redesign?

From 2024 through 2029, the MBTA will be transitioning its bus network from its current service map to a redesigned service map with new routes and schedules. This is part of its Better Bus Project.

You can view an interactive map of the MBTA Bus Network Redesign here.

How will the redesign impact bus service in waltham?

The goal of the MBTA Bus Network redesign is to reorient bus routes to prioritize transit-dependent communities, improve frequency in busy neighborhoods, and provide more all-day service. As such, the redesign eliminates redundant or underutilized bus routes and significantly increases frequency on others. It also significantly increases evening and weekend service.

In Waltham, there will be a 50% increase in bus trips on weekdays and a 164% increase in bus trips on weekends.
